Guatemala remains one of the few Latin American countries that does not permit presidential reelection under any circumstances (
Arzu still hasn't gotten the message however). On Tuesday,
Otto Perez Molina, the presidential candidate for the Patriotic Party and front runner for September's election, said that he would be open to rewriting the country's constitution so that it allows for the one-time reelection of presidents. He doesn't seem to be pushing the constitutional reform but says that it might be one of several reforms to consider.
You can see a different part of Perez Molina's interview
here during which he emphasizes the promotion of
seguridad integral and the need for better leadership from the president (an obvious dig at Colom and plug for himself) in order to "raise the spirit of Guatemalans" in order to jointly tackle today's challenges in Guatemala.
